The page number of this David R tune refers to its page in the Hamblen Collection. Nothing is known of the tune, but Nikos’ playing of it suggested several spots where slightly off pitch notes fit nicely. Kentucky fiddler John Salyer called them “wild” notes. These microtones out of normal pitch exist between the notes and add tension and interest. They were a source of pride among early fiddlers. (Titon 31)
